I used PocketGps for years, but my TomTom died and the replacement TomTom Go 5000 doesn't allow POI's so can't be used with Pocket GPS, I discovered after I bought it! Much moaning to TomTom, and in a phone call today they said the Go 5000 software would be updated to allow POI's. Looking at their MyDrive site, it says I CAN add POI's to a Go 5000 by adding them to "My Places" in MyDrive, which will transfer them to the TomTom. There isn't room on the TomTom without buying a micro SD card to expand the memory. Before I splash out on an SD card, has anyone successfully done this procedure?
Incidentally, the TomTom guy said Go 5000 software would soon be updated to include hands free capability too - maybe they do listen after all?

Don't be fooled by the TT helpdesk.

They are fully aware of what you mean but they talk in riddles to fob you off.

You mean speed cameras with advance warning capability, known as proximity. They mean POi's like garden centres and McDonalds that are only there as navigation points.

Under very direct questioning, they admitted you are right!
They claimed on the phone that new software would be available "in a few months" so my TomTom Go 5000 would have "live" POI's and phone hands free capability, but so far have ignored my request to put that in writing.
I've come across someone selling a unit called a Navall Star - there's a model designed to fit my Rover 75 (!) which they claim will work with PocketGPS POI speed cameras - have you come across it?

Looking at the 'screen dump' in one of the photos HERE it looks like the nav S/W could be iGO of some version. If that is the case, it will almost certainly take PGPSW database and with 'directional' alerts to boot.

Ask the seller what the nav S/W is and how to load the PGPSW database to be certain.
