If I want to travel across London, can Garmin be programmed to use Motorways route rather than go through "town" please? Alternatively, if I enter a postcode, can it give me a choice of route to take please?

No to the first and yes to the second Wink

If you want to force it to follow motorways you will need to insert enough viapoints or shaping points to make it do so.

My first thought was, if you know you want to cross London via the motorways then do you really need the Satnav to guide you?

If your using the M25 then once on it just exit at your preferred junction by which time it will have recalculated the best route to your destination.

The situation was that I was on the outskirts of London and when I put a postcode for a place near Redhill, it started taking me through town. I wanted to get on to the M25 so that I could get to Redhill easily. I did not know where M25 was and could not think of a point to direct Garmin to M25.

Do a where to, and then the postcode. Once the route's been calculated and its navigating back out to the menu and do another where to and insert the via point. You'll be asked if you want to start a new route or add it to an existing route, choose add to existing route.

In this case, and on regular routes, using the Sat Nav is useful for ETA and that traffic knows where you are going.

As above, for the traffic info. I know how to get there but I want an idea of what is up ahead. It was very useful on saturday when they closed the A21 due to ...................an accident involving 3 cars.
