I have noticed that some roadworks from last year is still on my garmin and that new roadworks on the m3 to M25 are not noted on the Garmin.

Question is - What is the function that updates these. speed camera or POI?

Can you help

I'm confused. Are you talking about speed cameras or traffic?

Garmin and obsolete historic roadworks via Smartlink has been an issue for me for ages. I noted that the latest firmware, for my model at least, has some sort of fix for historic traffic.

If it is the same as mine then you get a warning where it colours a section of road grey, has a 'road narrows' symbol and usually the text says 'no delay'. Hardly surprising when the roadworks actually finished many weeks ago.

I have same problem

Roadworks showing as narrow Lanes which ended DEC 2014

Another section of motorway has 2 years of roadworks and 50mph speed limit but not mentioned or calculated in estimates

I only assume that the paid camera alerts would solve this but unsure

I think Garmin should forget about roadworks per-se and rely on any traffic congestion as a result and report that.

I don't care about roadworks unless they are causing an issue.

Garmin traffic used to be OK until about June 2013 when this issue first showed. That started remarkably close to a firmware update so I'm hoping the latest one has fixed it.

My guess is that Garmin support have had numerous calls about it and do know. But when you call in they deny all knowledge but lo and behold a related fix/update is published. Why not just say there is a reported problem that is being investigated?

Paid camera alerts and traffic are unrelated. Using the 'traffic cable' that came with my 2508 I haven't had any false alerts.

Are the roadworks and narrow lanes part of garmin maps and updated through them

I'm confused

I have 2699 with cable and updated the garmin software to current version

Any thoughts

No. That comes via the lifetime traffic you have on your nuvi. It has nothing to do with your maps or speed cameras.

If you use the TA cable to receive your traffic then in the main it seems like Inrix will be your provider. I found Inrix to be better with roadworks termination than Smartlink.

I'm guessing that Smartlink gets it's data from quite a few suppliers and one of them is not so good at getting up to date data hence the non appearance and non cancellation.
What a shame there isn't a setting somewhere to select your Smartlink feed.

I still find the 'historic traffic' fix in the latest firmware interesting and look forward to next week to see if the displayed roadworks for the A312, north of Heathrow, that actually finished quite a number of weeks ago now has gone.
