Got two conflicting views from Garmin Support:
1. One said the cigar lighter power cable end has a red light and a "block" in the cable

and 2. Another guy said the cable is "without the old style block" in the cable and has a blue light.

Can some one clarify this please? Are the 2609 series ones have a blue light and a simplified cable?

If you have one you'll know Wink

I believe all the 2xxx series with digital traffic have the receiver built in, so the cable has a blue light and no bulge (which is the traffic receiver).

The 3xxx ones have the cable with the bulge.

You can check in Settings, Device, About ... third line down.

Also, have a look at the writing on the label on the fag lighter end to identify the cable. My 2597 came with a TA20 but the 2599 came with a TA10. Both the TA cables are aerials and should be placed in a suitable position to receive the signals.

Another check is to dive into the menu system traffic and check who it thinks your current subscription provider is. Until recently when I switched back to Smartlink mine used to show Inrix.

Then it doesn't use the cable with the receiver 'block' in it.

I think on first startup it does take a while to lock on to Inrix but then it holds the provider in memory for subsequent startups.

What is the provider showing as?

The 2699 has TA20.

Mine has a TA10.

The TA20 was for older models, as my 2548 has TA20.

In that case you are receiving digital traffic.
