Hi hiya to the forum ,have just upgraded to a Garmin 2517 LM (yeah i know its not the latest one ) After spending a lifetime with Tomtom ,I bought a start 50 before reading up on it and checking the forum and found that they dont allow custom POI installs ,so the camera database subscription seemed a waste .Thats why i moved to Garmin also found that i could get the add on traffic with lifetime subscription by getting the older GTM25 traffic unit and not the latest GTM36 one ,wish tomtom had been this backward compatible .
So all in all rather pleased with myself to get lifetime maps and traffic for £105,well done Garmin and to Tomtom well done for shooting themselves in the foot and losing a 10 year customer !!! |

I`ve been a loyal user of Tom Tom since 1997, but enough is enough, so I went out two days ago and bought something that works 100%, so I am now the proud owner of a Garmin Nuvi 2569 LMT-D and I am as pleased as Punch with it. |

I think the majority of TT owners are probably unaware of better third party camera databases and they probably believe that TT's cameras are bang up to date.
Those of us in the know buy Garmin.
My Garmin lead is nowhere near as reliable hidden away. It occasionally got a signal but it was in searching mode for considerably longer and watching the connection screen it frequently dropped back into search mode depending of direction of travel. _________________ Satnav:
