In that case it's likely the GarminDevice.xml file has corrupted. You'll find it in the Garmin folder. Delete it then disconnect your device from your PC and switch it on, that will recreate the xml file.
It's that file that holds details about your device, software version etc.
If that doesn't solve it and your speed icon isn't back to normal (after you've ensured you have a satellite fix) the next step would be a master reset. This often cures strange behaviour after a software or map update. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks sussamb. The map issue is now sorted. It still thinks it's a 2xx7 but I can live with that! |

Beefcarrot, how did you fix this? I have deleted the Garmindevice.xml file but it hasnt cured it. Also, I have noticed that the weather through the smartlink is in F and not C. I suspect it thinks im American!. |

Then I suspect at some point, probably in error, you selected the American locale. The only way out is a master reset, not sure what model you have so can't give you a link

I did a factory reset on the device and ensured the locale was UK |
