Is this 2015.30 update only applicable to the latest models?
On my 1440T both mygarmin and garmin express said mine was up to date, apart from some very minor irrelevant updates, and in addition to that mygarmin told me about an update for my French dangerous zones data which I downloaded, so I am still on CN Europe NT 2015.20.
cheers

Your nuvi uses the older style NT map, that is now only being updated twice a year, so 2015.20 is the latest, your next update will be 2015.40 _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi Sussamb
Thanks - I know we discussed this earlier this year, I was hoping that this was one of the updates that worked for me.
cheers

Don't like how they have changed the icon showing the speed limit. Gone is the recognisable 'road sign' style icon and in comes a white rectangle with 'limit 50' etc. Nowhere near as easy to read. |

I've just checked mine (2598) via a simulation and it is still the UK icons. |

Yep, mine too ... so I suspect Metblackrat has the wrong map theme selected.
It can be changed in Settings, Map & Vehicle, Map Theme ... need to select United Kingdom _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Please excuse my ignorance but.....
On my 2598 as mentioned earlier in the thread, when updating maps it automatically deletes older versions. However on my older nuvi it does not.
If I want to delete older maps is it simply a matter of connect to PC, find the device then delete the older maps?
I've always had it in mind when updating maps on my old nuvi that the updates simply overlaid on top of the original rather than downloaded a complete new set of maps.
Thanks |

Which program are you using? Theoretically your old maps should be deleted when new ones are installed but Express is a bit picky and looks for an exact filename match. If it doesn't find it then in doesn't delete the older map.
It's perfectly safe though to delete the map files yourself, and on most nuvis they will be in the hidden .system folder. Almost certainly they'll be named gmapprom.img with associated .unl and .gma files, if not post the folder content here if you're not sure which are the map files.
As for the way map files are installed, they are not an 'add on' to existing files but a completely new image file, complete with new and updated POIs etc. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks, job done!
My old nuvi is a 310, originally with UK/ROI maps and does not have enough capacity to accept bigger mapsets so I normally download full Europe to my PC then select and download to sd card.
I've taken the hint from your post above and connected it to Garmin Express. It offered mapsets within the unit's capacity and so I downloaded UK/ROI. It has in fact deleted the old maps.
Thanks again. |

Weirdly, I've found the same as metblackrat and I definitely have the right theme. I've also noticed that since the last up date, my 2598 is now listed as a 2xx7 on the information screen. |
