Would I be right in thinking that the traffic information displayed on Tom Tom portable devices with HD Traffic is the same as that displayed on the Tom Tom website under the heading 'Live Traffic'?

You would be right. The information at http://www.tomtom.com/livetraffic/ is the same as that shown on my TomTom smartphone app with the HD Traffic subscription.

You would be right with the exception that the website displays all the information, whereas the devices display only nearby information - there are varying statements as to how far radius from you the traffic is displayed on the device.

Thanks for replies.

A related question, are there any known issues with the reliability of Bluetooth data connection (iPhone 4 to Go 600) as opposed to the built in data connection (Go 6000)

Thanks

Can't answer that as I don't have a 600/6000

However I do have:
TomTom 950 Live (plus traffic sub = £47.50)
iPhone 5 running TomTom UK (plus traffic sub = £14.99)

The 950 has a built-in GSM SIM card, which should work in all of Europe without me worrying about data roaming charges. The iPhone 5 is 3G and I pay for the data usage of traffic (however this is small and is included in my data package).

The 950 will often not pick up traffic whilst the TomTom App on the iPhone is much quicker and more reliable at getting connected to traffic. I don't know if this is the norm that TomTom PNDs are not as good as the TomTom app for picking up traffic but as the TomTom app traffic price is less than half for the PND then that is a consideration.

TomTom traffic is very good. However, it can be very annoying to be on a journey when your PND can't connect to your traffic subscription (that you've paid a considerable sum for) and you arrive at the back end of a massive traffic jam that you could and would have avoided by taking the previous exit if only you have been warned by your SatNav's traffic!

As you already have an iPhone, as long as you have enough spare space, why not consider the TomTom app (with traffic) instead of the TomTom 600 or 6000?

Regards,
