TheClip.com have sent us a variety of different mounts for Pocket PC's and Mobile Phones to review including a couple of belt holster cases.

Some of these are to be car mounted, some are to be mounted off your belt, so this review is based on the complete selection of mounts that we received.

The full review is available here.

Dave,

In the review you state that

Quote:

The InnoPocket Case is the best looking case I have ever seen. I used to own (actually still do own) a Proporta case, and in comparison the InnoPocket Case wins hands down in design.

Strange... as I see it it is exactly the same case as the Proporta I bought a long time ago. Only difference is the clip attachment (at least my Proporta case does not have a clip attachment; I put one on myself)

If you look closely you can see that both companies even use the same picture on their websites!

Regards,
Dirk.

Actually I hadn't seen that Proporta had updated their cases, the old Proporta case I have here for my 3850 was a heavy metal case with very sharp dangerous edges to it.

This new case is much better. It looks like what TheClip have done is used the new Proporta cases (or whoever manufactures them) and add the Belt Clips. Do you have the SD card storage slot in it too ?

I took another look at my proporta an I think I own a slightly older version. It has a couple of 'grip ribs' on the side of the case (don't know what to call them otherwise and which are quite useless) and the proporta logo is stamped in the lid, but it is essentially the same model. And yes, it has the SD card storage in the lid.

Pity the case with the clip attachment was not available when I bought mine. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. There is very little room inside the case, so you have to find a screw with a very thin head, or make your own (like I did in the end).

Only thing I found is that the lid would sometimes open on its own accord. I had to bend the lid a bit to prevent that from happening.

I've had this one for almost a year now and although it has its obvious disadvantages (you have to get the PDA out of the case to put in the cradle) I think it's the best solution (for me at least). Much better than the previous one; that one had a magnetic closing flap which wiped the magnetic strip of 3 bank / petrol cards before I knew what was going on Sad

Regards,

Dirk.

What I do like about the belt clip/button is the button isn't just stuck with a 3M pad which I had originally thought it was, but it's rivetted to the case for strength.

I cannot speak too highly of the Proporta (or The Clip - they look the same to me) cases.

Mine has to be robust enough to fit in a kitbag (waist or shoulder mounted) and has earned the nickname "Jungle" after The Ascent of Rum Doodle (well worth reading BTW Smile )

On the downside it does add a bit extra weight so for work (if I take it there) it means less of a pocket device and more of a briefcase device.

But! the pros outway the cons IMHO
