Thanks for all the info and input, as I have a Brodit mount and error message has not reappeared I think I may limp on with GL 1000 for time being which does everything I want currently even though a bigger screen would be nice.

I've just got myself a Garmin 2598 as I wasn't prepared to cough up yet another £47 for traffic on my Go 540 (annoyingly which otherwise is working fine). I haven't had the Garmin long enough to give a real comparison, but was really impressed to see it pick up an unusual hold-up on a relatively minor road near me this morning. It is also virtually instantaneous to connect which is a massive plus in it's favour compared to the 540.

Phillevy let us know how the traffic compares to you tomtom , I can't make my mind up on buying the misses a new garmin with the digital traffic or the tomtom go 600.
I'm swaying towards the garmin only because of tomtom server problems

Give me a few weeks and I will report back. I haven't been on any testing drives yet,but have spent a bit of time plotting theoretically challenging routes, and it seems to be on the ball with reporting the traffic compared with TomTom. What is a real pleasure however is not waiting for it to connect at the start. With my 540 sometimes it takes so long that I'm almost at my destination when it finally does - and often it will never connect unless I do a reset.

I'm surprised anyone who is a member here even considering a new TomTom given that the latest range don't allow user POI's (safety cameras)

Even if TT introduced WiFi direct I would not switch for that one reason.

TT have stated they will introduce POI's as a future enhancement but I'm not holding my breath

Had a few hold-ups on my way in this morning - the Garmin reported and kept updating everything exactly as well as my TT would have done.
