I've just got the Copilot free app to try out as Sygic just wasn't doing it for me, on the POI front, shame as it looked good otherwise.

But I don't seem to be able to make a new POI category, or even a new POI, I'd also like to import my many OV2 files.

Any help most appreciated Smile

Kev.

Hi K13ehr,
Like you I am also trialing CoPilot.
Have you seen this page?
https://forum.copilotlive.com/copilotlive/topics/how_to_import_google_earth_and_maps_pois_from_kml_or_kmz_files_into_copilot

Jump in after instruction #2.
It looks like if you have Android 4 or above it may not work.

I've not tried it myself so I hope it works for you.

EDIT - Just noticed that CoPilot Central is only compatible with CoPilot Live V8. Sorry.

Hi, I have tried the instructions above and found that it does not work with copilot 9. It may work with copilot 8 but I cannot test. Regards Martin.

Thanks for that feedback purplefadetogrey.

I have managed to put the PgpsW cameras in CSV format into CoPilot. I wonder if converting the OV2 files to CSV and importing similarly would work?

Not had chance to play with it again yet, but got this link via email from CoPilot.

Hi, please can you let me know how you got the CSV files to work. Did you use the 'Copilot Central' program or did you drag and drop into the 'save' folder?

Thanks Martin.

I just followed the instructions on the download page which is the drag and drop method-

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-copilot8.php

I am still finding my way around CoPilot so not really sure of what I'm doing apart from blindly following instructions, some are working, others are not.

Early days.

Good luck.

Ok, after a day of experimenting, this is what I have found -

Using Android 4.0.4. and CoPilot 9.5.0.440 (downloaded recently).

I used various POI's downloaded from this site. I have read somewhere on CoPilot's help pages that the POI's need to be imported from a Certified Download Source. I'm not sure what the difference is, if anything, between this and your own POI's, but I don't have any of my own POI's immediately to hand to be able to test this.

As purplefadetogrey mentioned above, I had best success with OV2 files despite my previous upload of SpeedCameras POI's being in CoPilot 8 csv format and working well.

OK -

1) Make sure CoPilot is not running and connect Android to your PC as "Media Device". I had "debugging mode" selected in case this makes any difference.
2) Copy both OV2 and bmp files (I only copied two files at a time).
3) Paste both files into the /InternalStorage/CoPliot/??/save folder. (where ?? is the maps you have, EU in my case). Disconnect Android from the PC.
4) Launch the CoPilot app. CoPilot shall announce "New Poi set found" (and lists the poi name). Click on the Right arrow at the TOP of the screen.
5) You now have two choices - a) Import to an existing Poi category, or, AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN, b) Create your own Poi Category. You may have to hide the keyboard to see this option.
6a) Select an existing Poi category. Click right arrow.
7a) Select a Type. Click right arrow.
8a) "set options", "Are you importing Safety Camera Data?", Click Yes/No.
9a) Click right Arrow. CoPilot starts "processing" and then starts normally.

6b) To Make your own Poi category. Select "New Category" at the bottom of the screen. Enter a new Category Name. Click right arrow.
7b) Select an image to associate with your new category (see Note 1 below). Click right arrow.
8b) Select Yes/No at the question "Are you importing Safety Camera data?." Right Click.
9b) CoPilot starts "processing" and then starts normally.

10) Repeat as necessary for more Poi categories.

NOTES, 1) I noticed that recently uploaded images do not show for the first few reboots of CoPilot. Although I haven't tested it, it may be an idea to upload just the bmp files first and then the OV2 file following a reboot. Hopefully by then the bmp files shall be in the system and be presented for selection.
2) Png files appear to work just as well as Bmp files. 22x22 Pix.
3) I wasn't able to find a way of creating a POI Sub Category. If anybody finds out how to do this, please would you report back.

Also, Using ItnConverter it is possible to import your own itineraries.

I converted both .itn and .gpx files into .trp and imported into the same "save" folder as above. The route is then available for selection in CoPilot.

Apologies if this has all been mentioned before in these forums.

Just used this to load the PGPS DB as above and found that I could bulk copy the OV2 BMP files in one go and when restarting CoPilot it just automatically added all the files a Speed Camera POIs.

They all appear to work except the Average Speed Camera ones which do not give the display expected - I have started another thread for that rather than try and resurrect this one

PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2014 5:21 pm    Post subject: Deleting ALK speed cameras Reply with quote

Hi
Having just started using CoPilot again (9.5.0.440), I have installed PGPSW speed cameras vis the CSV files - this seems to have worked fine.
I followed the instructions for deleting the ALK ones, amd they are still there!
I cannot seem to find where else they may be stored according to any instructions I have found.

V9 seems to have some changes over V8

Any ideas please?

Cheers

I've found the same, I upgraded toV9 after V8 stopped working. Alk marketing ploy?
Since then camera DB for V8 loads in but does not give the option of importing safety cameras.
I still get warnings of speed limits but no images are shown on the map which is frustrating.
A move back to Tom Tom maybe in the offing.

Watch out. You can't add user POIs in most of the latest TomToms Rolling Eyes
