hi
just got a second unit. garmin nuvi 2548.
i have a 'self created' poi list on my tomtom XL LIVE of my customer base (around 125). could someone explain in easy terms (or point me to an easy online article) that would explain this process.
when i look at my poi list on my pc i see each entry in my poi category has 2 files an .ov2 and a .bmp
many thanks for any help here.

thanks for reply. if i use convert ov2 to csv (which i believe is what i need) how will it handle the .bmp part of the poi as each entry in a tomtom poi has .ov2 and .bmp extensions?
thanks its just all a bit new to me!!

Sorry no idea as I've never had a TT to try it with Smile

You may have to copy all the .bmp files separately I guess into the folder that has the csv file, then use POI loader on that to load them to your Garmin.

Just give it a go and see what happens.

On your TomTom, the ov2 file is the one that contains all the data about the individual locations.

The bmp file is purely the picture/icon that is displayed on the screen when referencing this POI category and on the map. It contains no data other than the picture/icon itself.

If you download any TomTom POIs from PGPSW, you will get both the ov2 and the bmp files, while if you download them in Garmin format, you get a csv and a bmp file.

I suspect that both bmp files are identical (It is possible that there is a difference in resolution, but let's ignore that chance for the time-being).

So convert your ov2 to csv, using whichever converter you choose, and then copy both the csv and the bmp file to the folder used by POI Loader, and load them according to the instructions.

If it's any help, my preferred converter is POIEdit
