Does this fix the 'map graying' issue?

Is there one on these models? I've only seen reports of problems with the 35xx models

Not a Garmin user, but thinking of changing from TT. I'm waiting for the software release that will fix the 'graying' issue, so wondered if this was it?

As posted, unless you're after a 3597 or 3598 there isn't a 'graying issue'. My 2508 has worked flawlessly since I got it around 6 months ago Wink

There's one review on Halfords site noting the issue with a 2598. This is the one I'm interested in.

Ah OK, hadn't seen that one. The 25x7 and 25x8 series appear to use the same software as the 35xx series, they're both on v4.0, earlier versions have followed with the same version number and were released at the same time.

Both were updated in early December so I'd expect an update any day now, which I'm told aims to resolve the gray screen issue.

(Edit: having just briefly looked at some of the reviews there are loads of users there who clearly don't read the manual, lots of moans about features which aren't there that they would like ... but actually do exist Twisted Evil )

i think the only missing things on the garmins is

a) Voice alerts for cameras and speeding, instead of the bongs
b) Average speed through an average speed zone
c) Ability to set and maintain speed alerts when over speed limit in certain areas

I have a 2598 and the problem occurs when you are using both the traffic supplied across DAB (i.e. through the power cable) and Smartlink. It seems that if both give an update simultaneously, the unit goes into a sulk.

I bought a power cable with no aerial and use that when using Smartlink. I use the supplied one when in France etc.

Otherwise it is an excellent unit.

What is a real shame is that since getting my 2597LMT I have a perfectly good Nuvi 50 sat in the loft doing nothing.

No point me firing it up for the update.

I know I could Ebay it but I find that hassle. Might give it to a work colleague who is still using an original TT One.
