I guess it's just a standard GATSO and not Truvello ?

Yes, it is a GATSO, not a Truvello.

If it's pointing North then it's targetting drivers travelling South surely?

No, GATSO's only flash from behind, so if it's pointing North, then it's only when driving North. Otherwise it would be a front facing Truvello.

I think you're thinking of wind where you have a northerly wind which is actually blowing from North to South ?

I did wonder if you had sunk too many John Smith's. I downed a bottle of red the other night, felt totally okay until the following morning where I started feeling a little drunk! Not good! Luckily I didn't have to drive anywhere and it was the weekend too!

Back to JS and Guinness! Laughing

As an experiment :D I would like anyone passing the GATSO on the A439 to record its position and send it in marked "A439 camera".

Please record its position as you drive past using your normal method, eg when you first see it, or as you pass it. I will use the results to assess the scatter that is likely to occur when recording a camera position.

Please make sure that you don't run into the car in front Exclamation the one that is also recording the camera's position.

Getting back on topic! For those of us who should know better! :o

I have just been speaking to Anquet Maps. Anquet are hoping to turn up on Saturday, but may not make it because of prior arrangements. Anquet have donated 2 copies of Anquet Maps central England for the draw.

As mentioned above, to qualify for the draw you need to be pre-registered for the event and also be there on the day. We are doing this to ensure that these items are being distributed to the PocketGPSWorld readers rather than someone who has just walked in off the street.

If you have not registered yet, please send an email to pubmeet@pocketgpsworld.com. We will acknowledge your registration. If you have not received an acknowledgment within 48 hours please email webmaster@pocketgpsworld.com or post into this thread.

Looking forward to the pub-meet on Sat.
Any ideas on what's going on when or is it wait and see?

The Stratford Meetup is going to be a good one with several thousand pounds worth of prizes to be given out on the day Companies that are supporting the event and/or attending are:-

- ALK
- Memory-Map
- Anquet
- Easy Devices
- Peripheral Corner
- NAVTEQ
- Nemesis GB
- Holux UK

I think you will all like the event, you will get to see the latest GPS Hardware in the flesh and the latest GPS Software making this one of the largest UK GPS Meetings to date. You will also get to ask questions not only of the PocketGPSWorld.com team but all the companies turning up, including NAVTEQ, so if you have any questions whatsoever, don't be shy on the day, ask away!

We hope to see everyone who has registered there on the day. Good luck and watch out for the speed camera just north of the hotel!

It's now less than a day to the Stratford-Upon-Avon Pub Meet. I have sent out in the past hour emails to everyone who has registered for attending the event. If you have not received an email from me and you expected to, please still come along as you should have received an email but some ISP's do like their spam filters.

The meetup is at the:-

Stratford Manor Hotel
Warwick Road
Stratford-upon-Avon
Warwickshire
CV37 0PY

It will be a great day and you should get a good chance at winning some great GPS gear! If you send an email after this announcement to say that you want to attend, please come along anyway as there are still vacancies.

For directions and a map follow the link below:-
