I'm a huge fan of OpenStreetMap, it's crowd sourced map data has improved in leaps and bounds in recent years but the default map skin can be a little boring.
Step in Stamen Design with a selection of skins for OSM that include the beautiful 'Watercolour' effect seen above. Whilst it's of little practical use for navigational purposes, it turns map data into works of art and I'd be delighted to have one hanging on my wall.
They also have a more practical 'Toner' skin which lends itself to printing or other scenarios where a high contrast is useful.

I've just visited the OpenStreetMap website and it's more up to date than OS, Google Maps, Bing aka Multimap. _________________ Be alert.. This country needs more lerts.

Like most crowd-sourced projects, OSM is dependent on the users updating the maps. it's not that hard to do, really, but does take a little time to do it right.
Not everyone has the patience, or the desire to assist, of course, and that's why some areas will take longer to resolve than others. _________________ Roger, G1LIW
