I have been getting trouble with my dashboard mounts (TomTom and Mio) with iPhone 4S, so I'm using a new (cheaply discounted sale) Jabra BT 2070 earpiece. Only just paired it this morning, so the only successful test I've done so far is that the phonecalls work through it.
Should I be getting Bluetooth transmission from CamerAlert? Because I'm not - test was simply to play the warnings to see if they happened on the earpiece.
You're gonna ask me if the earpiece is A2D something aren't you? I don't know! Trying to look at a specification online, it seems to say BT 2.0, but I can't see A2D anything. _________________ Dennis
Hi DennisN, just to let you know that I'm wondering the same thing with my Android and a Sony A2DP bluetooth receiver which has not been delivered yet. Sort of applying the same kind of logic I have read here about the I-oPlay, it should work. On the Android version of CamerAlert there is an option of "Play voices through speakers when connected to Bluetooth" (sorry, a made up title because I can't remember the real title but it explains it more or less), Is this option available on iOS? and have you tried toggling it?
Other than that, I guess we must await some Bluetooth Gurus to arrive. _________________ TomTom GO 730, GO 930, GO 940 & Rider2.

The option on iPhone is an icon of music notes changeable to a loudspeaker. With loudspeaker selected it plays on the phone's loudspeaker, with the music notes selected, it plays on bluetooth, providing that works (it DOES play on a sunvisor mounted A2DP thingy). I've toggled both options and get nothing in the earpiece. _________________ Dennis
I get through a few bluetooth earpieces for one reason or another. Normally the alerts come through the phones speakers or car kit in my case, the only time I've heard the alerts in the earpiece is when I've been on a phone call. _________________ Mike

Thanks for the info SpikeyMikey. Doesn't bode well for my "project" _________________ TomTom GO 730, GO 930, GO 940 & Rider2.

So far CamerAlert only pipes sound through Bluetooth if the BT device has A2DP capabilities. And if the devices are paired and connected then the sound will "just work" (well, we add a little magic by playing very soft soothing music to keep the bloody BT connection from going to sleep). Are you sure your two devices are properly connecting? _________________ Lutz

So it seems my earpiece isn't A2DP.
Ah well, I'll just have to resume my search for a new Mio car kit - my existing one is getting a bit hit and miss, not getting and/or dropping BT connection, then the sound is distorting quite badly, enough to make occasional phone calls unintelligible! I'm presuming it's age and frequent use or might it be that it was great with iPhone 3GS, but rubbish with iPhone 4S? But I can't find the Mio carkit anywhere at present (got this one in Argos and they don't do it any longer). _________________ Dennis
