this is what satmap says
Sneak Preview - New online application
In a few weeks Satmap will be launching a ground breaking new tool to view maps, plan & share routes and much more. The features of this online application will include online international topographical mapping, displayed across a full screen and the option to work with two windows and map types side by side and on different zoom levels. Total flexibility allowing you to see both the whole mountain and the detail of a craggy hill at the same time! The practical snap to road function easily plans road navigation for cyclists and motorists, automatically adjusting the position of waypoints to follow road network. A standard and a premium version will be available with all current Route Planner users receiving the first year of premium subscription completely free. More information coming soon! |

Although the features sound good it is such a shame that Satmap charge for using their Route Planner, I must not be the only one who has always used one of the many free online tools to do route planning.
Surely providing the RP free to satmap owners would help them create a much larger user community and increased sharing of routes - the thing that really helps the users.
eg if you have a Contour POV camera they provide editing software and upload to their website for sharing foc (with a premium only for those who want larger amounts of their server space).
I feel that in an ever competitive space Satmap should do likewise with their RP. |

On Nov. 30th,it was "in a few weeks".
It is now 25th January 2012,where is it ??
Satmap did this once before two or three years ago,I was at the Cycle Show in London in the October and a chap on the Satmap stand told me that after Christmas that year the Route Planner would go full page and there would be other bells and whistles, never happened.
