| Cheers 2024 for your reply! I have a free map update to take before May so hopefully that will sort it out! |

I get this problem on a regular basis on my 1490T. I've followed Garmin's instructions on how to cure it and it doesn't. I'm up to date on the software but it makes no difference.
A friend, who also has the 1490T, has the same problem. |

| This is the sort of thing that is often cured with a hard reset. Note that will delete your favourites so back up current.gpx first |

Is it still under warranty? If so that is possibly your next step |

| No mate, it's about 2 years old. Great piece of kit when it's not frozen. I have emailed Garmin to see if they have anything to say about it. If past experience is anything to go buy I won't hold my breath. Such a shame that a great piece of kit has such a crap service. |

| Not sure what is best next then, never seen that happen on mine, might be worth another call to Garmin Customer Support? |

| Just got a reply. They want £63.34. I don't think so. I think I'll buy a TomTom. |

One last thing to check, just guessing though, plug it into your PC and see how much free space there is on the unit.
Just wondering if it needs a bit of slack to perform ? _________________ Lets be careful out there ! |

£63.34 for what? Repair or Replacement?
I'm sure you're aware that you won't get a TomTom with the same functionality for that price?
Just to add my first Garmin 1490 had a freezing and stuttering issue. I moaned and got it replaced by Halfords. Bit different though cos mine was still in warranty.
The second one is much better and with Kremmen's help and advice it's the donkeys wotsits!
Think long and hard before buying a TT mate, especially the newer GO/VIA range. I highly recommend the earlier ones but like I say, you won't get one for £64. _________________ GO 540 UK & Ireland - NO LIVE

Good advice, Garmin's 13xx and 14xx series with the latest software are very stable and very capable GPS, I wouldn't swap my 1490 for any of the newer Garmins or TTs |
