I have a kenwood dnx5220bt i have installed the speed camera database. I have also attempted to change the warnings sounds to the speech as per the instructions on the site, but my device keeps playing the cd and not updating into the hard drive. can anyone help with this issue please.

Hi and welcome.

You mean it plays the alerts track by track?

You have to put the mp3 files into the same folder as your speed camera files on your PC. Then use POILoader, which will combine them all (CSV, BMP and MP3) into one big file, called POI.GPI (as you have done already). You then load this to your unit.

Ignore it if POILoader reports it's stopped responding or appears to freeze. Give it time....

See the instructions on the download page here

Hi, Thank you for you response. I have uploaded in the way the describe, but didn't call the file poi. just called the folder garmin. would that make the difference?

Also if possible could you advise me how to change the background to a photo of my choice.

Kind Regards, Gavin

Hmmm. It should make a folder called Garmin and a file in it called POI.GPI.

Did you have the camera database and the icons in the upload folder too? (i.e. not just the mp3s)

Do you have matching triplicate files?

i.e. (NOTE Your actual files names might be different but you should get the point....)

GATSO_30.CSV
GATSO_30.BMP
GATSO_30.MP3
GATSO_40.CSV
GATSO_40.BMP
GATSO_40.MP3
etc

If so, POILoader should spit out a large file called POI.GPI. If it has then that should be all you need to do..

Sorry to really labour this point, but POILoader usually generates a file (not a folder) called POI.GPI

This is the file you should be looking for. Not the folder.

It should have been generated by POILoader and not you....

Only if your unit doesn't have an MP3 player.

Further to the above you need to have the POI.GPI file in the following folder format

x:\garmin\poi\poi.gpi

You must also finalise the CD and make sure you can see the files on the CD with your PC. Use good branded CDRs not CDRW.

Then turn the unit on select [NAV} and insert the CD.

Some also mention that if you get any messages about Disc Error to ignore them and wait a bit..
