While I am pleased and impressed with Satmap's latest upgrade of the software there is one feature g they have removed that I would like to put in a strong plea to have returned.

On the earlier software I could show or hide whole categories of POI icons. Now I have to make this choice for each individual icon. I have hundreds of Hill Forts in one category and hundreds of Castles in another. Sometimes I want to look for one thing other times the other. Please would Satmap bring this ability back!

It would also be very nice if they allowed the view/hide feature to be carried across unit restarts which was not the case before. And if I am being greedy could I change all the icons associated with a category in one go. Currently as they were all set up under the old software they all look the same. Now I can have custom Icons (great) but again I do not want to have to go in and change each one.

My fingers are crossed.

Good news I've found away for you to do it, you will need excel, or similar.

1) import your hill forts gpx file into your A10
2) export it again but select "as TAB delimitted TEXT file"
3) open the file in excel
4) you will see a column called "Icon" in this column specify where you have saved the icon
e.g. if you want to use the blue reference point icon enter
"Flash Disk\My POI Icons\0.Targets\__008_Reference Point.png" WITHOUT QUOTES!

5) save it as a Tab delimited Text file and close excel (won't convert if excel open)

6) now import it back into satmap - hey presto you have icons.

Storing Icons

you can save your icons in one of the folders in the My POI Icons file downloaded from satmap and then re zip it and import it back to the Satmap.

if you you have imported the My POI icon.zip file to the internal memory you need to specify "Flash Disk" at the start of the file path, if you have saved it to sd card you need to add "Storage Card" (WITHOUT QUOTES)

if you are just saving the icons straight to the internal memory then something like Flash Disk\Hill Fort.png should do it

Hope this helps

There are instruction in the user guide about text files if you want to read up.
