first of all i am sorry if this subject has been on before, but as i am a newbee and could not find any ref to my new head unit in a serch
first - the download went well and i found the instructions easy to follow -- thanks
my problem is that the warning sound is very quiet
is there an easy fix for this

Is this the built-in beeps? If so, unless Kenwood have a configuration option that allows you to change that then No.

Yes it does say ‘Disc Error’ – because it does not detect it like a normal CD or DVD.
Under the navigation set-up part of the menu, you can adjust the nav guidance volume level, this should also adjust the warning tones for the speed cameras.
This level can also be adjusted using the main volume control whilst receiving a voice command from navigation
