Hi, i want to buy a BT-GPS unit to work with my IPAQ hx2410 and tomtom6.
So far i have looked at the three in the title...
I am still a bit confused about all that GPS technology (MTK vs SirFIII...)
Main use of the GPS will be driving but also a bit of walking in cities and maybe some hicking... so i am looking also for some good battery life.
So far I have seen the I.trekM5+, Qstarz BT-Q816, royaltek RBT-21010, Holux GPSlim 236 and Globalsat BT-359C.
Any insights???

Welcome to the forum, my choice would be the Qstarz unit as the battery life is very good (and rather hard to beat), I use the Holux GPSlim236 and when it packs up I will be looking at the Qstarz units as the replacement device.
The Globalsat is a credible performer but you won't get 20+ hours use from the battery and reception isn't an issue with any of the modern receivers, even when faced with demanding conditions.
Whilst some of these links are to older devices they might be worth having a read:
QStarz BT-Q818 Here
GlobalSat 359 Here
Holux 236 Here

I was more looking towards the Qstarz Q816 and not the Q818X (difference in price of about 22$) but i might lean towards it at the end.
The review you linked was concerning the Q818 and not the X so i guess the X will be even better...
Is i.trek a kinda good company or is that like Holox? and what about Qstarz?
Also Qstarz uses Nokia type battery and I like that also...
what a difficult choice....
PS: so far everyone agrees that there is no more differences between MTK and Sirf? So what about MTK2???
thanks again
Did I read somewhere that I can have a reduction at semsons from pocketgpsworld with a code...?

HOLOX aren't the same as Holux and don't seem to have much of a reputation according to other posts around here.
I would look at the QSTARZ units - I have their 1000BT datalogger and it is very good. Works in the boot of the car, in the depths of a yacht, at the bottom of rucsacks....
It works very well with my DELL AXIM X51v with MemoryMap etc. Battery life is very good as well. _________________ Phil
