It appears I have been accepted twice as for some reason I have 2 activation codes now Laughing Out Loud...

Used it today and its not too bad, though the volume is quite low and not very clear when driving unless I route sound through my cars speakers.

I was hoping the program had sub licenced the PGPSW speed cam database but suspect it hasn't as the one included is not as comprehensive as the one from here. Also I haven't found a way to use custom POI and speed cams which is a negative to me.

I'd noticed the same, I'll mention this to them Wink

I believe they will send an e-mail request and a link to a feedback page on their website.

I also received two activation e-mails, one yesterday, which I used and one today, which I have filed for future reference!

Lucky you, I tried the application out on a long distance run today, Blackpool/ London/ Blackpool - have to say it worked very well - I have a few observations and screen captures I will post later but overall I think this product is quite a decent application.

Having true Text To Speech on a PDA that is capable of reading out road names is a first for me, quite a shock at 03:25 this morning when I set out with the application running!

If anyone wants to try the SMS position send/ receive then either send me a PM or e-mail for my mobile number as I won't post it in a forum section that isn't restricted - Mike

We are considering opening a restricted Beta Tester forum here but I need to clear this with TelMap first.

I have only tried a couple of short trips today - to and from work and had no problem with the volume. Satellite acquisition was quite slow at first, about three minutes, but I think this is more to do with the Nokia N82.

Routing was a bit different than my TT 520 with the latest map, but ignoring the given direction and going the 'proper' way, route recalculation was quick, firstly advising a left turn and then another left turn, to bring me back on to the original route. When I ignored thiese instructions, it recalculated quickly and put me on the 'right' route, with good road names.

It did not display or warn me of three pmobile locations, but I guess that this site is the only one that provides these in their database. Perhaps across-licensing deal would be a future possibility.

Altogether, I am impressed and will delve deeper in the coming days.

I have fed back to Telmap my initial observations and also a request to alow custom POI (and perhaps coming to a licencing agreement to use PGPSW camera database if possible).

My biggest concern is still audio volume on my XDA Orbit2. It is very low. Today I streamed music from the phone and ran Telmap over the top, playing through my cars speakers. When I use McGuider the routing audio is as loud as the music but with Telmap it is much quieter. Perhaps I have missed an option to change the audio volume in the application?

I do agree a private forum would be useful - to allow non public discussions etc assuming Telmap agree (I wonder if they are looking to introduce their own?).

I am continuing to test alongside McGuider and do find them both very good. The inclusive traffic information is very useful, even though none of the routes I have used so far have had issues - I have been lucky not hittng traffic).

There is a rudimentary Low/Med/High setting in Settings?

Edit: I'm using a BlackBerry and apparently the volume setting is not common to all platforms.

It appears to be missing from the Windows Mobile version I am using, but I think might a worthy addition. All I can do is mute the sound itself.

With the application running on the Orbit-II try using the sound control on the phone (the slider on the top lefthand side of the device), you can turn the voume up and down using this.
The only option relating to sound within the application is the sound on/ off by tapping the volume icon on the main screen.

I agree though the volume is a little on the low side with the Orbit-II/ Touch Cruise even when set to maximum the level is low compared to other applications running on the same device - Mike

As this is building up a head of steam now I've opened a Telmap specific area in the Beta section here.

If I could ask you all to continue discussion in that section from now going forwards?

Feel free to initiate new topics if the discussion is of a new issue/feature.

This thread now locked.
