We eventually figured out that the reason why our NUVI 600 wasn't charging was because the insides had fallen out of the power plug!! I guess there's a screw-on lid, which gives you access to the internal fuse and spring, and somehow they've disappeared. I don't want to have to buy a whole new GTM21, but as the power plug is molded on, the only alternative would be to get replacement innards, and I can't find anyone who does that.
Anyone got any suggestions? I've got a number of other cigarette plugs, and I've had a look to see if I can use those, but I can't.

Same happened to me a while back. Searched under all the seat, under the car and the around garden path but no luck. Then my wife noticed something in the ciggy socket. There they were, all the bits waiting to be fished back out.
Obviously putting the power plug in and out, and maybe adding an anti clockwise twist, gradually unscrews the end until the 'bits' stay put when you remove the plug. I always insert my plug with a half clockwise twist now. _________________ Mio P350 - iGO8, with linknet's Ultra Skin 6.
For the benefit of anyone who has a similar problem, I can answer my own question. I went to a Maplins (like Radio Shack in the US), and bought a very cheap cigarette power plug, that come apart. I took out the spring, fuse and circular clamp that hold it together, and put them in the Nuvi plug, whcih you can prise apart. It all works, and a lot cheaper than buying an entire new recceiver.

DIY solution are often the best approach well done, but what is the rating of the fuse fitted as it might be too high not offering the correct level of protection - Mike

Maplin That was a good idea wonder where that idea came from.

Interesting - never thought about it 'til now but I pull the plug out with my left hand (I'm right handed) and seem to naturally apply a clockwise twist to do this. It's possibly related the the position of the plug relative to the driver position _________________ Phil
Mainly using: TT720 8.320 and 825 maps,
Satmap Active 10, Colorado 300, QStarz BT1000P, Memory Map, Anquet
The fuse in the original is rated at 3amps. I can't actually read the rating on the replacement (although it works, and I suspect it is 3a). You can however buy a pack of 10 3.14amp fuses (same size) for a trfiling amount, and a box of a few hundred springs for three pounds.
WIZ... thanks for the Maplin suggestion, although when I first read your post, I thought you were suggesting that I could put the plug on the end of the wire, which I couldn't, as it's moulded on.
