Sony launches pocket format HD camcorder with GPS

pocketgpsworld.comAt CES earlier this year Sony announced a range of HD palm sized camcorders which included GPS.

Now they have added to the line-up with a pocket sized model similarly specified with High Definition recording and GPS.

The HDR-TG5V follows the now popular upright format with a side mounted 2.7" flip out LCD and boasts a CMOS sensor with 1920x1080 HD resolution and the ability to snap 4-megapixel still photos.

Storage is courtesy of removable Memory Stick PRO Duo media but it comes with 16Gb of built-in flash memory, part of which stores the world-wide Navteq map data. This map data allows you to see exactly where your recorded video or still images was acquired.

Sony Picture Motion Browser Software is also supplied to allow the geotag function to be viewed on a PC.

Other features include the internal clock which is automatically set by the GPS, face detection technology which can detect and automatically detects faces and smiles in a scene, adjusting focus and exposure to suit and smile shutter which captures an image as your subject smiles.
