Following on the heels of our story on Friday concerning the speed cameras targeted by arsonists in Wales, the BBC have reported that a series of attacks have been taking place in the Sottish Borders.

The most recent incident occurred on Sunday night when a tyre was placed over a speed camera located on the A1 at Lamberton. The fire also caught the surrounding undergrowth alight.

This attack was the latest of just one of many in the area stretching back to 2004. So far 20 cameras have been torched.

In another series of incidents in the area, six speed cameras were attacked with a saw. The latest such attack happened in March this year.

Don't they have a local fire service arson reduction manager then?

Nothing to do with me, but it is always good news when I spot the most recent site of someone trying to help a camera warm up on a cool day. Why the A68 needs so many cameras is beyond me?
