There are plans to install new speed cameras south of Aberdeen covering a stretch between two junctions on the A90.

The point-to-point cameras would be situated at the Charleston and Findon junctions and be in place to protect workers during the construction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The speed limit will be 50mph.

A Transport Scotland spokesman commented: "It is currently planned that the necessary speed restrictions will remain in place until the new roads are open to traffic, which is scheduled for winter 2017."

He added: "The works due to be undertaken at Charleston are extensive and it is therefore necessary to implement comprehensive traffic management measures to ensure the safety of road users and construction workers. Road users may find it useful to plan their journeys in advance."

A local councillor said : "I am shocked. I have no doubt the cameras will annoy drivers and that is a reason a lot will not adhere to it. Transport Scotland would not be doing this if it was not needed. It is better than having crashes on the road which can cause even bigger delays."

What's a point-to-point camera? If it's an average-speed camera, then why not use that term, which is the one we use in this country.

Yes, they are SPECS.
The "wee lassie in the helmet" has decreed that they will be called point to point cameras in Scotland so as not to fall in line with us southern Sassenachs. She will need all the cash she can raise when she achieves her dream of independence and looses the ridiculously generous 'allowances' given to Scotland by the United Kingdom Government on behalf of taxpayers.

So the least her fellow countrymen can do is ignore the cameras and drive as fast as possible to get those coffers filled quickly. Those obeying the speed limit will be us sassenachs......
