Leicestershire County Council are considering seven new locations for average speed cameras at a cost of £500,000.

The proposed sitings are the villages of...
Sharnford
Woodhouse Eaves
Measham
Walcote

and the...
B676 Melton
A6 Harborough Road at Oadby
A50 Field Head to its boundary with the city of Leicester

The cabinet discussion to trial the cameras is taking place today.

A council spokesman commented: "We are very aware there are communities whose lives are being blighted by the daily effects of speeding motorists. We believe average speed cameras could be a digital solution towards addressing these concerns. However, testing their effectiveness in various situations is vital and these trials will help us with some exploratory work we are doing around the wider use of cameras."

If the trial receives Government support, there is potential for even more cameras to be rolled out in the county.

Trial? What do they mean. They stick them up an fine people.
Just like the 20MPH limit. I has been announced that this brings about a whole 0.7MPH (1MPH in Brighton) reduction in speed and no reduction in accidents. But still the plebs think they are a good idea.
