Essex Has Spent 80000 On Camera Repairs In 5 Years

Over £80,000 has been spent on repairs to sixteen speed cameras in Essex over the last five years.
According to answers from a Freedom of Information request, over the period, thirteen cameras fell victim to arson attacks and three were damaged by vehicles.
In all, Essex Police spent £83,000 between 2012 and June 2017. The first six months of this year accounted for £27,500 in costs for repairing just three cameras.
The figures below show the amount of cameras damaged each year and the associated costs:
2012: 3 £21,000 2013: 2 £11,000 2014: 3 £7,500 2015: 1 £2,500 2016: 4 £13,800 2017 (to June): 3 £27,500
