Driver Stranded On Golf Course Blames Satnav

An American golf course had to deal with a completely new type of driver this week, after an allegedly drunken woman drove into the bunker while following what she claimed were poor Sat Nav directions.

The woman failed a police sobriety test at the scene but claimed the accident had been caused by incorrect directions from her Sat Nav.

Patricia Maione had already been reported to police for dangerous driving earlier that day and admitted to drinking half a litre of vodka on the morning of the accident. However, she refuted allegations that this had been the cause of her navigational faux pas - insisting her Sat Nav had told her to turn left, thus directing her onto the golf course.

From here, Maione claimed she continued a straight path in an attempt to leave the "cornfield" which she thought she had driven into before becoming stuck in the sandpit.

Whilst several golfers were playing on the course at the time of the incident, thankfully none were injured by the rogue driver.

This is one of many recent incidents which have seen GPS navigational systems blamed for driver error; with tourists driving into the sea and scaffolding being erected on the wrong house due to so-called 'Sat Nav blunders'.

According to police, Maione ironically stated she 'did not even like golf'.

She is pleading not guilty to charges of drunk driving and driving with a suspended licence.

Couldn't make it up. Then again, the Mail Online probably could!

I know exactly how she feels.

Shame she wasn't driving a Caterpilar 797B on the course.

Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100.
