China launched a further two BeiDou satellites atop its long March 3B rocket yesterday.

BeiDou (also known as COMPASS) is China's own global navigation system and is currently under construction. Ultimately there will be a constellation of 35 satellites and became operational in 2011. There are 17 satellites already in orbit and the service is available to users in the Asia-Pacific region with global coverage expected towards 2020.
