Car on Back of Tow Truck Gets Speeding Ticket
Article by: rob brady Date: 21 Jan 2015
A driver has been fined for speeding, although her car was on the back of a tow truck at the time.
Sonia Mirambell from Calafell, Costa Dorada was "caught" by a speed camera although it was obvious to the authorities that it was not only not been driven by her, but in fact not driven (in the more normal sense of the word) by anyone at all.
The breakdown vehicle however was been driven at 51 mph in a 43 mph zone.
When the unfortunate lady received the ticket, she realised that the day in question coincided with the day that her car broke down.
At first she complained to the police, only to be told "Speed cameras never lie." Somewhat mystified, she accordingly asked for evidence of the incident.
The "evidence" arrived just one day before her chance to appeal. It duly showed her car on the back of the truck.
Apparently, the fine was purely issued to the woman because she had a Spanish number plate, whereas the tow truck was registered in one of Spain's neighbouring countries, Andorra.
She is hoping that sense will prevail and the fine will be cancelled.
