Bradford Gets 26 (Yes, Twenty Six) New Speed Cameras!

Article by: maft
Date: 13 Dec 2010

pocketgpsworld.comWhile the papers are still busy telling us how more and more Safety Camera Partnerships are removing fixed speed cameras 'because of lack of funding' West Yorkshire's Casualty Reduction Partnership have have gone the polar opposite.

Bradford will be getting 26 new 'forward facing' fixed speed cameras and they will all be operational by the end of February 2011. The funding has, apparently, been 'kept aside' from previous years budgets while they worked on deciding the most strategic places to place the cameras.

White lines and piezo strips have been appearing at various points around the city and the first 5 cameras are now in place on Oakworth Road in Keighley.

The full list of locations are as follows:
Haworth Road, Bradford – (4 cameras) - although we have only identified one location so far
Manningham Lane, Bradford (5 cameras)
Oakworth Road, Keighley (5 cameras) - now in place
Thornton Road, Bradford (4 cameras)
Canal Road/Valley Road, Bradford & Shipley (4 cameras)
Bradford Road, Shipley (4 cameras)
