A 50mph speed limit stretch on the A90 has been extended.

Following the installation of average speed cameras to protect road workers employed on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, the speed limit has now been extended from the Murcar roundabout to the dual carriageway at Tipperty.

Point-to-point cameras were installed on the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road between Blackdog and Balmedie four months ago.

A spokesman for Transport Scotland commented: "Sections of the A90 between the Murcar and Ellon roundabouts are already subject to a 50mph speed restriction, but this is now being extended.

He added: "The change to the speed limit is necessary to ensure workers can construct the new road safely while road users continue to use the A90."
