Over 60,000 motorists who thought they got away with speeding, will now be fined.

The tickets were originally overruled due to a virus that hit speed cameras in Victoria, Australia.

But now the Road Safety Camera Commissioner said the virus did not compromise the 160 cameras that were affected.

He added "We can say with confidence that there is no breach of the integrity of the data. There is no compromise of the system and nobody who has obeyed the law will receive an inappropriate infringement."

A contracted maintenance worker mistakenly uploaded an infected file which spread through the state's network of cameras.

Police Minister, Lisa Neville said that the camera contractors appeared to have "not taken the virus as seriously as they should."
